Yvette Jones is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, part of the College of Health at Adelaide University. She holds key teaching roles, serving as the course coordinator for undergraduate midwifery courses such as MIDW 2001 Complex Care of the Woman and MIDW 3902 Midwifery Practice Experience 5. She also instructs practical sessions, including those in MIDW 3901 Midwifery Practice Experience 4 at the Adelaide City Campus East.
In her capacity as course coordinator for MIDW 2001 Complex Care of the Woman, a 12-unit undergraduate course, Yvette Jones oversees the delivery of content that develops students' knowledge and skills in woman-centred, evidence-based midwifery care for women with complex needs. This includes midwifery assessment of risk, deviations from normal across the childbirth continuum, management of medical and obstetric complications and emergencies, episiotomy and anaesthetic, recognition and clinical management of the deteriorating woman, provision of midwifery care in adverse outcomes, evidence-based practice, law and ethics, effective communication, cultural safety, woman-centred care during complications, use of technology, collaboration and referral, teamwork, inquiry-based learning, maternal and neonatal safety and quality, and maternal and neonatal death.
Similarly, for MIDW 3902 Midwifery Practice Experience 5, a level 3 Work Integrated Learning course, she coordinates experiences that enable students to consolidate graduate-level midwifery knowledge, attitudes, and skills in clinical practice environments, preparing them for professional midwifery practice.
