Yuriy Halytskyy serves as DevOps and Integration Programmer for the National eScience Infrastructure (NeSI) at the University of Otago, operating within the Information Technology Services Division on the Dunedin campus. In this capacity, he supports critical computational infrastructure for research endeavors across New Zealand, focusing on high-performance computing, integration, and DevOps practices that enable data-intensive scientific workflows. His contributions facilitate access to advanced resources for researchers in fields such as genomics and simulation, hosted through partnerships among universities including Otago and Auckland.
Halytskyy has actively participated in prominent eScience projects and publications. He is listed as a co-author on the 2025 publication 'Rakeiora Genomics Platform: a pathfinder for genomic medicine research in Aotearoa New Zealand,' published in the New Zealand Journal of Botany, where New Zealand eScience Infrastructure provided computational innovation for secure genomic data processing and analysis, implementing GA4GH standards to support data sovereignty. He also contributed to the presentation 'Jupyter on NeSI' at the New Zealand Research Software Engineering Conference in 2020, demonstrating Jupyter notebook capabilities on the NeSI platform alongside colleagues. Additional involvement includes early experiences with cloud bursting managed by Slurm at NeSI and prior role as Systems Engineer at the University of Auckland. Through these efforts, Halytskyy enhances research software engineering and infrastructure reliability for national scientific impact.
