Yue Wang is an Associate Professor of International Business in the Department of Management, Macquarie Business School, Macquarie University. He received his PhD in Management (International Business) from the University of Melbourne. Previously, he held a senior lectureship in the School of Management at the University of New South Wales, where he was voted among the top 10 lecturers across the university in 2011, ranking fifth overall. He has also undertaken visiting positions at Kyoto University, Nagoya City University, and Doshisha University in Japan; Shanghai Jiaotong University in China; and Korea University Business School.
Wang's research specializations include international business and international management, entrepreneurship and small to medium-sized enterprises, and human resource management. His work investigates how institutions shape firm behavior and decisions, how managerial and entrepreneurial characteristics influence these, and their interactions, with a particular focus on the China-Japan-Korea context. He has published in leading journals such as Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Human Resource Management, Asia Pacific Journal of Management, and Academy of Management Proceedings. Key publications comprise "Sustainable human resource management practices, employee resilience, and employee outcomes: Toward common good values" (Human Resource Management, 2023), "Double-edged sword of global demand heterogeneity: How service multinationals capture the benefits and mitigate the costs of managing customer knowledge" (Journal of Business Research, 2023), "How CEO narcissism, organizational identification, and performance feedback shape middle managers’ strategic behavior" (Journal of Business Research, 2025), "How to design green compensation to promote managers’ pro-environmental behavior? A goal-framing perspective" (Journal of Business Ethics, 2025), and "How challenge demands affect employee innovative behavior? The dual role of team leaders’ Dark Triad personality traits" (Journal of Business Research, 2026). Wang has received the Academy of Management Best Paper Award (HR Division) in 2023 and 2020, Best Paper Award at the China Goes Global Conference at Harvard University's JFK School of Government in 2010, AIB Southeast Asia Conference Best Paper Award in 2019, and Best Paper Award at the Inaugural Australia-China International Business Research Conference in 2007. He guest-edited a special issue on Dragon Multinationals in Asia Pacific Journal of Management (2016), reviews for top journals including Academy of Management Perspectives and International Business Review, served as an external reviewer for the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, contributed a chapter to The Oxford Handbook of Industrial Dynamics, provided expert comments to the Australian Financial Review, and participates in projects like antecedents and consequences of returnee entrepreneurship in China.
