About Yuanji

Yuanji Wen is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Western Australia Business School and an affiliated researcher with the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Center. She earned her PhD in Finance from Bocconi University in Italy and has held visiting researcher positions at the University of Oxford in 2011, University of California, Berkeley in 2019, and University of Melbourne in 2019. Additionally, she serves as a Research Fellow at the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University. In collaboration with Dr. Marvin Wee, Wen developed an in-house trading software platform at the UWA Business School, which is a core component of the teaching curriculum for undergraduate unit FINA3307 Trading in Securities Markets and graduate unit FINA5524 Trading and Markets, and supports multiple research projects. Her research specializations include market microstructure, behavioral finance, and experimental economics.

Wen has published in leading journals such as Management Science, Finance Research Letters, and Journal of Financial Markets. Key publications include 'Tick Size, Trading Strategies, and Market Quality' (Management Science, 2023, with Werner, Rindi, and Buti); 'COVID-19 Vaccines and Global Stock Markets' (Finance Research Letters, 2022, with Chan, Chen, and Xu); 'Loss aversion in asymmetric anti-coordination games' (Southern Economic Journal, 2022, with Masschelein and Ratan); 'Transparency in fragmented markets: Experimental evidence' (Journal of Financial Markets, 2022, with Hendershott and Wee); and 'The relevance of dark trading for information acquisition in the German stock market' (Finance Research Letters, 2024, with Ekanayake and Smales). She has received the UWA Business School Mid-Career Research Award in 2024, the Fay Gale Fellowship in 2022, and UWA Business School Covid-19 Research Funding in 2020 (with Chan and Chen). At the Business School, she has been the Academic Integrity Officer for Accounting and Finance since 2023, served on the recruitment committee in 2023, and acted as seminar coordinator in 2020 and 2024.
