About Yousuke

Yousuke Sasaki is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Economics at Niigata Sangyo University, a position he has held since April 2025. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Kwansei Gakuin University and completed the doctoral course in economics at the Graduate School of Economics, Kobe University, earning a Ph.D. in Economics in March 2021. Before joining Niigata Sangyo University, Sasaki served as a Lecturer and Research Associate at the Center for Computational Social Science at Kobe University from 2021 to 2025, as a Research Fellow there from April 2025 onward, and as a part-time lecturer in the Faculty of Sociology at Ryukoku University from September 2023 to March 2025. His academic career also includes earlier roles at the Research Institute for Economics and Business Administration at Kobe University.

Sasaki’s research focuses on applied econometrics and quantitative sociology, with particular emphasis on economic inequality, panel data construction and analysis, fertility rates, and voting behavior. He is a member of the Japanese Economic Association, the Japanese Statistical Association, the Japanese Political Science Association, and the Mathematical Sociology Association. Among his key publications are discussion papers such as “The Impact of Multi-Factor Productivity on Income Inequality” (2022, co-authored with Takashi Kamihigashi), “Spatial Panel Data Analysis of Fertility Rates: Unraveling Two Myths” (2022, co-authored with Takashi Kamihigashi), and “The First Public Panel Data on Regional Inequality in Japan Based on the Family Income and Expenditure Survey” (2022, co-authored with Takashi Kamihigashi), all issued by Kobe University’s Research Institute for Economics and Business Administration. He has presented at conferences including meetings of the Japanese Economic Association, the Japanese Statistical Association, and the Mathematical Sociology Association. Sasaki serves on several university committees at Niigata Sangyo University, including the Educational Affairs Committee, Library Committee, Research Activities Support Committee, Journal Editorial Committee, and Graduate School Committee.
