Yasun Ratiyalage is a Lecturer in the Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Colombo, Sri Lanka. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His scholarly contributions are primarily in the field of mechanical engineering, with a focus on vibration signal analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and related applications in engine diagnostics and maritime vessel design.
Ratiyalage's key publications include several conference papers demonstrating his expertise. In 2024, he co-authored 'Abnormal Vibration Triangulation Modelling Methods in Internal Combustion Engines' with S.S.G.C. Siriwardana and P.M.T. Bandara, presented at the International Conference on Simulation and Modelling. This paper presents a comprehensive review of vibration analysis techniques for fault detection in internal combustion engines (ICEs). The use of vibro-acoustic signals has been pivotal in diagnosing complex issues related to ICE sub-components such as the pistons, bearings, and turbochargers. Traditional signal analysis methods, including Fourier transform, have limitations in handling non-stationary signals, leading to the adoption of advanced parameterized time-frequency methods for features extraction. Another 2024 publication is 'Transient Thermal Simulation Based Design of a Remote Temperature Measuring System for Tire Molds,' co-authored with H. Jayaweera, C.D. Makavita, S.D. Bandara, and L. Balasooriya. In 2023, 'Investigate the Effectiveness of Vastu Features Using Computational Fluid Dynamics' appeared in the Asia Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development, co-authored with K. Thanabalasingam and D.Y. Mudunkotuwa. His 2022 work, 'CFD based Autonomous Surveillance Vessel Design for Maritime Environments,' co-authored with D.Y. Mudunkotuwa and P. Jayasekara, was featured at OCEANS 2022-Chennai.
