Dr. Xing Lu is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics, Indiana University South Bend. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Alabama (2011), an M.S. from the University of Derby, UK (2003), and a B.A. from Beijing Normal University (2000). Prior to joining IU South Bend in 2011, Dr. Lu taught at the University of Alabama and worked as a business consultant and investment manager in Beijing, China. His teaching interests encompass investment, financial management, financial markets and institutions, banking, personal financial planning, and international finance.
Dr. Lu's research specializations include investment, behavioral finance, banking, financial markets and institutions, and international finance. His work has appeared in leading journals such as Research in International Business and Finance, Journal of Risk Finance, Journal of Investing, Journal of Applied Finance and Banking, Journal of Index Investing, Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Business, Journal of Trading, Journal of Finance Issues, and Managerial Finance. Key publications include 'Bank globalization and efficiency: Host- and home-country effects' (2020, co-authored with Haiyan Yin and Jiawen Yang), 'RiskTRACK: the five-factor model for measuring risk tolerance' (2016, co-authored with Hunter M. Holzhauer, Robert McLeod, and Jamshid Mehran), 'Team Payroll, Pitcher and Hitter Payrolls and Team Performance: Evidence from the U.S. Major League Baseball' (2018), and 'Festivity Anomaly in Indian Stock Market' (2016, co-authored with Neel Patel). He has earned the Trustee’s Teaching Award from IU South Bend (2016) and multiple Excellence in Teaching Awards from the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). Dr. Lu serves as a reviewer for The Financial Review, Journal of Investing, Journal of Business and Economics, and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade. He is a member of the Financial Management Association, Eastern Finance Association, Academy of Finance, Midwest Finance Association, and Chinese Society of Economists. Additionally, he has chaired the Academic Affairs Committee and co-chaired Academic Senate Standing Committees at IU South Bend.
