Weston Davis is a seasoned financial and operational leader with a distinguished career in higher education administration, particularly at the University of Queensland's School of Veterinary Science within the Faculty of Science. A Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Davis completed his university studies concurrently with his early career in a chartered accounting firm, preparing financial statements and tax returns for diverse entities. He subsequently dedicated 12 years to the sport and recreation industry as an Accountant, producing actual versus budget management reports, annual financial statements, managing fringe benefits tax, payroll tax returns, superannuation, salary packaging, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Prior to entering higher education, he served as Group Accountant for Stanbroke, overseeing comprehensive finance functions including a team of four accountants, payables and receivables clerks, administration staff, and front office personnel in the cattle industry.
Having joined UQ in late 2014 as Finance Manager for the School of Veterinary Science and advancing to School Manager in 2015—a role held until April 2025—Davis's leadership proved instrumental in strategic and operational planning, financial management and reporting, day-to-day operations, and leading the professional staff team. His substantial and sustained contributions profoundly impacted the school's governance, operations, planning, and overall success, with his knowledge and support deemed invaluable. Notably, he co-edited the 2020 proceedings Vet Ed Down Under 2020: Sharing Good Practice in Veterinary Education with Claire Girvin, published by The University of Queensland. Davis served on the organising committee of the Vet Ed Down Under Symposium and the UQ VETS Veterinary Accreditation Team. He also volunteered advising on the finance committee and college council of a local private school. Currently, as Chief Operating Officer at Faith Lutheran College, Plainland, he applies his commercial perspective and stakeholder communication expertise.
