Rate My Professor Vivek Sabherwal

Sabherwal's academic interests center on sustainability, green thinking, and energy-efficient architecture. He integrates these into the five-year program through coursework, group assignments, hands-on experiences, and campus activities from the first to final year. He leads the Apeejay Festival of Ideas by Ignited Minds (AFIIM), an annual event that has evolved from offline architecture-focused gatherings to online festivals including school students, addressing climate change via expert talks, workshops, competitions, and cultural programs. In his addresses, such as at AFIIM season 6 themed 'Towards a Sustainable Future,' he underscores architects' role in mitigating climate impacts and highlights the institute's 25th anniversary in 2024. Sabherwal advocates balancing aesthetic appeal with functionality and environmental responsibility, stating that buildings cannot be deemed beautiful if non-functional or energy-unfriendly. Drawing from India's traditions like courtyard planning and circular economy practices, he promotes sensitivity to diverse climatic zones without imitating Western models. His leadership fosters integrity, moral values, and social commitment, aligning with Apeejay Education's ethos, resulting in alumni excelling in government roles, private practice, and various fields.
