About Vincent

Vincent Lee is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Westmead Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. He serves as Subdean (Medicine) of the Western Clinical School, Sydney Medical School. A/Prof Lee earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney in 1995 with first-class honours, followed by Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2004. In 2010, he completed his PhD at the University of Sydney, focusing on the pathogenesis of tubulointerstitial injury in chronic kidney disease. Clinically, he works as a renal physician at Westmead Hospital and Blacktown Hospital, and as Visiting Medical Officer and Medical Director of Dialysis at Norwest Private Hospital. He is also affiliated with the Westmead Applied Research Centre and Centre for Kidney Research.

His research specializations include renal medicine, with emphasis on chronic kidney disease, dialysis, kidney transplantation, hypertension, and eHealth interventions for kidney patients. A/Prof Lee has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, accumulating over 8,000 citations according to Google Scholar. Key publications include 'Adriamycin nephropathy: a model of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis' (Nephrology, 2011), 'Ex vivo programmed macrophages ameliorate experimental chronic inflammatory renal disease' (Kidney International, 2007), 'Target of rapamycin inhibitors (sirolimus and everolimus) for primary immunosuppression of kidney transplant recipients: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials' (Transplantation, 2006), and 'eHealth interventions for people with chronic kidney disease' (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2019). He co-edited 'The Renal System, Edition 3' (2022). Professionally, he is a Council member of the Australasian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN) and Chair of the CARI Guidelines Steering Committee, contributing to clinical guidelines on kidney health, including prevention of recurrent kidney stones.
