Victor Davila is an Associate Professor in the School of Visual Arts and Design within the University of Central Florida's College of Arts and Humanities. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art and the Computer and Bachelor of Arts in Art: Graphic Design, both from the University of Central Florida. Davila joined the SVAD faculty in the Fall of 2011 after working at UCF's Center for Distributed Learning, where he created graphics to support faculty teaching online courses. Promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2021, he serves as a Senate Representative on the University Master Planning Committee. He founded the Student Creative Group, which supports student design projects such as those for UCF Celebrates the Arts. Davila has participated in faculty exhibitions, including the Fall 2023 SVAD Faculty Exhibition, the 2021 Faculty Exhibition, and earlier UCF Faculty Exhibits.
As a practicing illustrator and designer, Davila has worked with clients including Scholastic Book Fairs, Ruby Tuesday Restaurants, Highlights Magazine, Brainplay Magazine, Sloppy Joe's Restaurants, the Orlando Repertory Theatre, General Mills, and The Orlando Weekly. He is the founder of the central Florida illustrator collective Giant Illustrators. In professional organizations, he is President Emeritus of AIGA Orlando, serves on the National Board of AIGA, and is a member of the AIGA Design Educators Community Steering Committee. Davila hosts CreativeMornings Orlando and has contributed to UCF initiatives like illustrations for the 50th anniversary buses and collaborative projects such as the comic for bionic kid Zachary. He teaches courses including GRA3747C Intermediate Illustration I, GRA4196C Advanced Graphic Design, GRA3112C Intermediate Graphic Design II, and special problems in graphic design. His MFA thesis, 'The Illusion Of Art: My Amalgamation Of Illustration And Contemporary Art,' reflects his integration of illustration and contemporary art practices.
