Vanessa Greig

Dr. Vanessa Greig is a Senior Lecturer in the Rural Clinical School at the University of Queensland, based at the Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit. She holds the academic title of ATH - Senior Lecturer and plays a pivotal role in delivering clinical medical education to students in regional Australia. In addition to her university appointment, Dr. Greig serves as the Director of Clinical Training at Bundaberg Hospital within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service, where she manages the training programs for medical interns and junior doctors, contributing to the development of the regional medical workforce.

Dr. Greig's outstanding contributions to medical education have earned her multiple accolades. In 2023, she received the Faculty Teaching Award for the Rural Clinical School, selected as the overall winner following victories at the Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit level. This recognition celebrates her skill in conveying extensive medical knowledge accessibly, creating safe learning environments, employing an inclusive and patient-focused approach, and committing to the professional growth of students in regional settings. The Rural Clinical School Director praised her for making a huge impact through her passionate teaching style that encourages critical thinking and clinical reasoning. In 2020, she was voted first place as Year 4 Teacher of the Year by medical students at the UQ Rural Clinical School Bundaberg. Dr. Greig also co-authored a publication titled 'A retrospective comprehensive overview of a regional Queensland acute pain management service' by Griffiths, Greig, Nasir, and Kondalsamy-Chennakesavan, presented at the National Rural Health Conference in Hobart, Tasmania, on 24-27 March 2019.
