Dr. V. S. Mehrotra serves as Professor (Plant Protection) and Head of the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry at the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Holding M.Sc. and D.Phil. degrees, he possesses over 30 years of experience with NCERT, specializing in Vocational Education and Agriculture. In addition to leading the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, he heads the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Centre, Centre for International Relation, UNEVOC Network Centre, and National Skills Qualification Framework Cell. He has also served as State Coordinator for Goa, Kerala, Mizoram, and Nagaland.
Under his leadership, the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry develops vocational courses and teaching-learning materials for agriculture and allied sectors, contributing to more than 32 curricula, 11 practical manuals for pre-vocational education, and 55 textbooks and practical manuals for Classes 11 and 12 vocational courses. Dr. Mehrotra has authored and contributed to numerous NCERT textbooks across various National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) sectors, including Agriculture titles such as Kisan Drone Operator (AGR/Q1006, Classes 11-12), Bamboo Grower (AGR/Q6101, Classes 9-10), and Micro-irrigation Technician (AGR/Q1002, Classes 11-12).
