About Tony

Tony Pearson serves as Professor of Theatre and Department Head of the Department of Arts and Humanities at Gordon State College. He earned a B.A. from Mercer University and an M.F.A. from the University of Georgia. As Designer and Technical Director for Gordon State College Theatre, Pearson oversees design and technology for productions, including set design for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in the 2025-2026 season, lighting and scenic design for Pride and Prejudice, and leading efforts for the Narnia production. He also advises for the Georgia Film Academy and holds office hours in Fine Arts 221.

In 2022, Pearson was promoted to full Professor from Associate Professor. He was accepted into the University of Georgia's Governor's Teaching Fellows Program. Pearson completed the 'Promoting Active Learning Online' training from the Association of College and University Educators, earning a micro-credential. He authored the chapter 'How to Jumpstart Your Inclusive Classroom,' published in the University System of Georgia's collection Scaling Up Student Success. Previously, he chaired the Faculty Senate, represented Fine and Performing Arts on Regents Academic Advisory Committees, and serves as Faculty Representative on the CARE Team. Pearson's leadership contributes to the School of Education, Arts and Humanities under Dean Dr. Steve Raynie.
