About Tine

Professor Tine Koehler is Professor for International Management in the Department of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. She obtained her Pre-Diploma from Philipps-University Marburg in Germany and her MA and PhD degrees from George Mason University in the United States. Prior to her appointment at the University of Melbourne, where she has served since 2009 progressing to full Professor, she worked as a consultant for leadership development at the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group, in the USA.

Koehler's research specializations include global teamwork, international collaboration, cross-cultural communication and coordination, virtual teams, trust, the application of cognitive neuroscience research to organizational studies, and research methods encompassing both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Her publications have appeared in premier outlets such as Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Organizational Research Methods, Academy of Management Learning & Education, and Small Group Research. Key works comprise "Templates in qualitative research methods: Origins, limitations, and new directions" (Organizational Research Methods, 2022), "Play it again, Sam! An analysis of constructive replication in the organizational sciences" (Journal of Management, 2021), "Brain drain: The cognitive neuroscience of foreign language processing in multinational corporations" (Journal of International Business Studies, 2014), "From the editors: Establishing methodological rigor in quantitative management learning and education research: The role of design, statistical methods, and reporting standards" (Academy of Management Learning & Education, 2017), and "Qualitative research in work and organizational psychology journals: Practices and future opportunities" (European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, 2022). She holds the position of Associate Editor at Organizational Research Methods, previously served as Associate Editor for Academy of Management Learning & Education, and is on the editorial boards of Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Management Education, Small Group Research, and the book series Research Methods in Strategy and Management. Koehler contributes to the field through roles on CARMA’s International Advisory Board, as Representative-at-Large for the Academy of Management's Management Education and Development division, chair of SIOP’s robust and responsible reviewing subcommittee, and as a member of the Melbourne International Business Research Unit.
