Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thorsten Grohsjean holds the Professorship in Organization and serves as Chair of the subject area for Organization in the Department of Accounting, Innovation and Strategy at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Statistics, University of Vienna, a position he began in January 2026. Prior appointments include Associate Professor with Tenure (2025) and Assistant Professor (2016-2025) in the Department of Management and Technology at Bocconi University, Milan; Junior-Professor for Strategy/Organization in Technology-Intensive Industries at Munich School of Management, LMU Munich (2012-2016); and Research Associate in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at Imperial College Business School (2011-2012). Grohsjean received his Dr. oec. publ. in Business Economics from LMU Munich in 2011, a Master of Business Research from the same institution in 2011, and a Diplom Kaufmann (M.Sc. equivalent in Management) from University of Mannheim in 2005.

His research centers on organizational imprints on employees that shape decisions affecting performance, particularly in human capital-intensive industries. He investigates team structures, processes overcoming biases against novelty, employee mobility's impact on cooperation and competition, panel decision-making, and idea selection. Grohsjean's publications appear in premier journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, and Academy of Management Journal.
