Rate My Professor Teruo Fujii

Teruo Fujii serves as the 31st President of The University of Tokyo, a position he has held since April 2021. He earned his PhD in engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1993. Following research positions at the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS) of the University of Tokyo and the RIKEN Institute, he was appointed associate professor at IIS in 1999 and promoted to full professor in 2007. He subsequently served as Director General of IIS from 2015 to 2018 and as Executive Vice President of the university prior to his election as president. Fujii’s research focuses on Applied Microfluidic Systems, with emphasis on fundamental technologies in microfluidics, including microchip, microfluidic devices, Micro-TAS, microreactor, and lab-on-a-chip applications. He previously served as co-director of the LIMMS-CNRS/IIS joint research laboratory from 2007 to 2014 and as president of the Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society.
