Taylor Jobling is a Lecturer in Law at the School of Law, Adelaide University, within the College of Business and Law. Previously affiliated with UniSA Justice & Society at the University of South Australia School of Law, she now advances legal education and research at the institution. Jobling holds a Master of Research in Law, with her thesis focused on animal welfare legislation in South Australia and its ability to fully protect animal rights from cruelty. In 2025, she was awarded RSPCA Australia's Sybil Emslie Animal Law Scholarship for her contributions to animal law. Her research interests center on the intersection of human rights and international law, particularly the conceptualization of rights and protections for vulnerable groups. She maintains a strong emphasis on animal welfare legislation and is actively involved in legislative reform to enhance animal rights and welfare in South Australia. Jobling has contributed to several research projects resulting in publications in high-impact journals, including the Journal of International Dispute Settlement and the American Journal of International Law.
In her teaching portfolio, Jobling delivers key courses such as Torts, Property Law, Legal Policy, Lawmaking and Justice (LAWS 1020), Intercultural Communication, Interviewing and Negotiation (LAWS 1025), Law, Governance and Citizenship (LAWS 1030), Civil Dispute Resolution (LAWS 3087), and Dispute Resolution and Civil Litigation (LAWS 4016). A prominent publication is her 2026 co-authored article with Courtney Dolphin, titled 'Are pets truly members of the family? New provisions relating to "companion animals" in the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth),' published in the Alternative Law Journal. This work examines the evolving legal treatment of pets in Australian family law. Jobling engages in community service through the UniSA Law Legal Advice Clinic and participates in fundraisers like the Walk for Justice for JusticeNet SA. Her doctorate is scheduled to commence in 2026, further strengthening her impact in animal law and human rights scholarship.
