Dr Tanya Weiler is an Associate Professor within the Adelaide University Domestic Pathways College, School of Allied Health and Human Performance, College of Health. She holds a PhD from the University of the Sunshine Coast, with her thesis titled 'Perceiving, practicing, and presenting employability: how business graduates navigate the education-to-employment transition.' Recognised nationally for leadership in pathway education, student transition, and teaching excellence, her research examines initiatives that enhance student transition, performance, and employability, with a focus on graduate outcomes, work-integrated learning, and academic identity. Her research interests encompass employment equity and diversity, workforce transition and employment, higher education, equity and access to education, and business ethics. Weiler leads the Graduate Transition, Work-Integrated Learning, and Employability cluster within the Higher Education Research Network (HERN).
Weiler has received multiple national and institutional awards for outstanding contributions to student learning, including Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) for teaching excellence and program leadership. Notable honors include a UniSA Citation and national AAUT award for her leadership of the Aboriginal Pathway Program and Regions, the 2020 Winnovation Award for Social Impact, and a 2025 national AAUT Teaching Excellence Award for professional development initiatives developed in partnership with Associate Professor Sarah Hattam. Her career features extensive experience in curriculum design and coordination across pathway, enabling, and undergraduate programs, including the development of Communication for Academic Purposes and Introduction to Human Behaviour, contributions to Building Academic Success (EDUC1094) for the Aboriginal Pathway Program, and coordination of English Language Studies (LANG 46) and University Studies (EDUC1075). She has taught International Management, Ethics and Values (BUSS3053) in UniSA Business and leads the Starting Strong orientation program to foster students' confidence, belonging, and academic identity. Key publications include 'Resisting the neo-liberalising of universities through continuous professional development: the unexpected impact on educator wellbeing in an enabling program' (2025, Australian Educational Researcher, with S. Hattam), 'Recognising the value of non-professional part-time work in assessing graduate employability: a challenge to employers' (2024, Industry and Higher Education, with D. Grant-Smith), 'Embracing alternative pedagogies for integrating global ethics into the business curriculum' (2024, Journal of Global Ethics, with D. Grant-Smith), and editorship of 'Enabling pedagogy and action research in higher education' (2024, with S. Hattam, R. Hattam, and S. King).
