Markovic leads the Clinical Trials Unit at the Charles Perkins Centre, overseeing researcher- and sponsor-initiated clinical trials through the Boden Collaboration. She co-authored the Australian Obesity Management Algorithm and contributed to guidelines for very low energy diets in individuals with diabetes and kidney disease. As President of the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services and a member of the International Network for Research, Management & Education on adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome (INfoRMEd-PWS), she helps develop international guidelines for Prader-Willi Syndrome management.
