The professor brings a strong, passionate focus on how broader societal themes—such as philosophy, diversity, and systemic race factors—intersect with clinical practice (e.g., geriatric care). There is an BIG opportunity here to more explicitly bridge the gap between these foundational theories and the practical, day-to-day clinical skills students expect to master.
Tamicah Gelting is a Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology within the College of Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She holds an MS degree and is licensed as an OTR, having graduated from UWM’s Occupational Therapy program. Gelting teaches in the undergraduate program in Occupational Science & Technology and the graduate program in Occupational Therapy. She previously served as a doctoral student in UWM’s Zilber School of Public Health.
In 2020, Gelting was appointed to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force of the American Occupational Therapy Association after being selected from among 180 applicants. She has focused on incorporating evidence-based anti-racist and outcomes-driven approaches across clinical and classroom settings. Gelting has contributed to research as a co-author on the 2019 paper titled “Impaired interlimb coordination is related to asymmetries during pedaling after stroke.”
