Her work has focused on incentives for innovation, venture capital investment, early-stage angel financing, private investment, and diversity in the Australian screen industry. She completed her PhD in Law at Monash University in 2022 with a thesis titled "Leading Practice in the Design of Government Venture Capital Incentives," passed with no amendments, following an LLB and BA in French from Monash in 2012. Wilkinson's engagement with Monash Law spans over a decade, beginning as an LLB Honours student, continuing as a research assistant on the ARC Discovery Project "Designing World Class Venture Capital Programs" led by Professor Stephen Barkoczy, and culminating in her current lecturing position after her doctorate.
