She obtained her PhD in International Relations from the University of Sydney in 2004 and holds a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Deakin University. Her research centers on international organizations and global governance, particularly how multilateral development banks and other institutions can enhance accountability and environmental sustainability amid the transition to renewable energy sources. Park examines norm diffusion, policy creation in institutions like the IMF and World Bank, and challenges such as governance gaps in critical minerals extraction and renewable energy displacements.
Park has authored and edited key works including Owning Development: Creating Policy Norms in the IMF and the World Bank (2010, cited over 330 times), Global Environmental Governance and the Accountability Trap (co-edited 2017), and The Good Hegemon: US Power, Accountability as Justice, and the Multilateral Development Banks (2022). Highly cited articles encompass Governing the dark side of renewable energy: A typology of global displacements (2021, 198 citations), Norm diffusion within international organizations: a case study of the World Bank (2005, 197 citations), and Theorizing norm diffusion within international organizations (2006, 179 citations). Her scholarship, with over 1,200 citations on ResearchGate, has attracted funding from Australian, Canadian, British, and German governments. She has served as a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics, Oxford University, Technical University of Munich, American University, and the Centennial Centre in Washington DC. Park chaired the fifth Oceanic International Studies Conference in 2012 and has engaged in public outreach via ABC Radio National, SBS World News interviews, and podcasts like Sweaty Penguin.
