Suja Davis

Suja Davis is a Clinical Professor in Health Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing, with 28 years of nursing experience specializing in adult health. She holds a PhD, is a registered nurse (RN), certified gastroenterology registered nurse (CGRN), certified global nurse consultant (CGNC), and possesses a Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Informatics. Dr. Davis’s research specializations encompass gastroenterology, nursing education, nursing informatics, and global health. Committed to advancing nursing education through technological innovation, she employs diverse teaching strategies to mentor future healthcare professionals and promote academic excellence.

At UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Davis has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2024 Tanner Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, the 2024–2025 U.S. Fulbright Scholar Award for teaching adult health and research courses, faculty workshops, and an educational research project at Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences in Nepal, and certification as a Global Nurse Consultant by the International Council of Nurses in 2024. She has published peer-reviewed articles such as “Facilitators of and Barriers to Effective Preceptorships for Pre-licensure Nursing Students: What Nursing Faculty Need to Know” (2024), “Telehealth and mobile health interventions in adults with inflammatory bowel disease: A mixed-methods systematic review” (2020), and “Non-pharmacological interventions to manage fatigue in adults with inflammatory bowel disease” (2021). Dr. Davis has presented scholarly work nationally and internationally, led continuing education activities in North Carolina and abroad, coordinated study abroad programs, and pioneered a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative linking UNC nursing students with psychology students in Mexico, thereby influencing nursing education and global health practices.
