About Subhan

Professor Subhan Namazov is a leading academic and administrator at Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he holds the position of Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation since May 2022, succeeding his role as Vice-Rector for International Relations from 2018 to 2022. He serves as a full Professor since 2010 and has previously headed the Chair of Metallurgy and Metal Sciences. Namazov completed his higher education at AzTU from 1989 to 1994, pursued PhD studies there from 1994 to 1997, earning a PhD in technical sciences specializing in Materials Science, and attained the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in 2007. He conducted scientific research at RWTH Aachen University in Germany from 2001 to 2002. His professional trajectory at AzTU includes serving as researcher-engineer in the Chair of Technology of Construction and Composite Materials from 1996 to 2000, Associate Professor from 2000 to 2010, and Head of the Education Department from 2003 to 2011. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2002.

Namazov's academic interests center on materials sciences and metallurgy, with expertise in powder sintered products, antifrictional materials, fatigue strength of sintered steel, laser surface cladding, and thermally conducting composites. He has authored around 200 publications, including 50 in ISI-indexed journals and 30 abroad, and holds 5 patents. Key works include "Mean stress sensitivity of sintered iron and steel" (Zeitschrift für Metallkunde, 2003), "Antifrictional materials on the base of the shaving waste" (Revista de Metallurgia, 2003), "Properties and structural characteristics powder sintered products of cast-iron received" (Journal of Metallurgy, 2002), "Study of Crack Resistance of Layers Applied by Laser Surface Cladding" (Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014), and "INFLUENCE OF HIGH-SPEED SINTERING ON THE STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF POWDER STEELS" (Socar Proceedings, 2022). Namazov has supervised 5 PhD students to completion, including one foreign citizen, and currently oversees 5 PhD and 3 Doctor of Sciences candidates. His honors include the International ISESCO scholarship in 1993, the "Badge of Advanced Educator of the Republic of Azerbaijan" in 2011, and Academician status in 2016. He has contributed to academic governance as a member of the Experts’ Council on Technical Issues of the Higher Attestation Commission (2008-2016), Independent Expert in the Civil Service Commission (2011-2016), and member of AzTU's Dissertation Council (2016-2019). A member of the Russian Engineering Academy, Namazov organized two international conferences and presented at over 20 international symposia.
