Professor Srinivasarao Yaragorla is a distinguished academic in the School of Chemistry at the University of Hyderabad, where he holds the position of Professor since 2023. He previously served as Associate Professor from 2019 to 2022 and Assistant Professor from 2017 to 2019 at the same institution. Prior to joining the University of Hyderabad, he was Assistant Professor at the Central University of Rajasthan from 2012 to 2017. Yaragorla obtained his M.Sc. degree from the University of Hyderabad in 2003 and Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, in 2008. His postdoctoral research included positions at the University of Minnesota, USA (2008-2010), and the University of Hyderabad (2010-2012). He leads the YSR Research Group, known as the YSR Catalysis Lab, focusing on advancing synthetic methodologies in organic chemistry.
Yaragorla's research specializes in synthetic organic chemistry, encompassing catalysis, mechanochemistry, metal-catalyzed functionalization of alkynes and alkynols, donor-acceptor cyclopropanes, multicomponent reactions of α-iminoketones, C-H functionalization reactions, π-activated alcohols, strain-induced reactivity of cyclopropanes, and the synthesis of biologically important molecules. He has published over 115 peer-reviewed articles, achieving an h-index of 27 and more than 1,690 citations according to Google Scholar. His contributions are recognized through prestigious honors, including Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2025, Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences (FTAS) in 2024, Chancellor's Award from the University of Hyderabad in 2022, Associateship of the Indian Academy of Sciences in 2019, Associate Fellow of the Telangana Academy of Sciences in 2022, Professor S. Jayarama Reddy Excellence Award in 2016, and DST Fast Track Young Scientist award in 2013. Yaragorla's work has significant impact in developing innovative reactions for organic synthesis.
