About Sonam

Dr. Sonam Jain is an Assistant Professor at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, with a focus on Cyber Law. She was appointed to this position in January 2025, having been associated with the academy since 2018 initially as a Research Fellow. Dr. Jain earned her Ph.D. in Cyber Laws from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, with a doctoral thesis titled “Problems and Issues in Investigations and Trials relating to Cyber Crimes in India.” She also holds a B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the Department of Law, Barkatullah University, obtained between 2006 and 2011. Her academic background equips her to address complex issues in cyber jurisprudence and judicial training.

At the National Judicial Academy, Dr. Jain has contributed extensively to judicial education and research programs. She has served as Academic Coordinator for initiatives such as Programme P-1496 conducted on 11th and 12th April 2026, in collaboration with Ms. Ankita Pandey. Her roles are noted in NJA newsletters, annual reports from 2018-19, and programme schedules as Research Fellow and Faculty. Dr. Jain has participated in workshops on cyber-crimes, covering topics like identity theft, corporate espionage, and phishing, as featured in the June 2019 newsletter. She has also supported national conferences such as P-1409 and district judiciary sessions. Her publications include “Gender Sensitivity In Indian Courts” (2025), emphasizing gender awareness in courts, and “Consent In Romeo-Juliet Cases” (2025, IJCRT), examining provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. Through these efforts, Dr. Jain advances the academy's mandate to strengthen judicial expertise in emerging legal domains.
