Dr. Sivaraman Eswaran is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Science at Curtin University Malaysia. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Eng., along with professional certifications including Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE), CompTIA Security+ Certified Professional, and EC-Council Certified Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator. His academic career includes serving as Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Computing (Cybersecurity) since January 2023. He advanced to Associate Professor at Curtin University Malaysia in January 2026, following his role as Senior Lecturer from July 2022 to December 2025. Previously, he was Associate Professor at PES University from August 2018 to June 2022, Technical Instructor at IBM Career Education from June 2017 to July 2018, and Assistant Professor at Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology from June 2011 to May 2017. Eswaran leads the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Cybersecurity Keylabs Working Group and is a registered volunteer in the National Security Database to assist cybercrime victims.
His research specializations focus on cybersecurity and secure healthcare analytics. Key publications include 'Private 5G networks: a survey on enabling technologies, deployment models, use cases and research directions' (Telecommunication Systems, 2023), 'An efficient lightweight authentication scheme for smart healthcare in IoMT applications' (Discover Computing, 2025), 'Intrusion detection system model: a white-box decision tree with feature selection optimization' (Neural Computing and Applications, 2025), 'PriMed: Private federated training and encrypted inference on medical images in healthcare' (Expert Systems, 2025), and 'Defending against adversarial attacks on Covid-19 classifier: A denoiser-based approach' (Heliyon, 2022). Major awards encompass the Emerging Research Star Award 2025 from Curtin University Malaysia, Students’ Choice Award 2023 from Curtin Malaysia Student Council, HRD Corp Certified Trainer 2023, Fellow of Advance HE 2024, and Senior Member IEEE 2021. He has contributed to conference proceedings such as 'ICS-SimLab: A Containerized Approach for Simulating Industrial Control Systems for Cyber Security Research' (IEEE CNS, 2025).
