Dr. Moore's research interests include the staff nurse work environment, student nurse learning environment, critical thinking, student empathy and willingness to work with older adults and those with dementia, and the effects of simulation on teamwork. She serves on the faculty for Aging Studies and is a member of the Positive Aging Consortium at MTSU. Dr. Moore initiated a partnership between MTSU’s School of Nursing and the nonprofit Mindful Care, allowing students in her Health and Gerontology course to accumulate volunteer hours through practical engagements that cultivate empathy for adults with cognitive challenges, enhance communication skills, boost self-confidence, and provide real-world experiential learning beyond conventional clinical settings.
