Ms Sharron Jones serves as a Lecturer in the School of Education within the College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences at Adelaide University. She is actively involved in teacher education, with a focus on regional and rural contexts, delivering courses at campuses including Whyalla and Mt Gambier. Her teaching portfolio encompasses Professional Experience 1: Introduction to Educators' Practices (2024), Professional Experience 3: Informed Planning (HP) (2024), Teaching in Rural and Regional Locations (2024, 2025), Honours Educational Research: Theory, Literature and Policy (2024, 2025), Honours Research Methodology: Methods and Ethics (2024, 2025), and Professional Experience 4 (Honours): Inquiry into Practice (2024, 2025). These courses provide pre-service teachers with practical skills, research methodologies, ethical considerations, and insights into teaching in diverse regional settings.
Bringing over 20 years of experience in education without prior formal training in digital learning design, Sharron Jones has contributed significantly to pedagogical innovation, particularly during the transition to hybrid learning environments. In 2024, she co-authored 'Building a caring hyflex pedagogy: An example of practice in an initial teacher education program' with M. J. Worrall and K. L. Woodards, published in the Journal of Applied Learning and Teaching (volume 7, special issue 1, pages 67-78). This work details a constructivist, care-infused approach to HyFlex pedagogy tailored for initial teacher education programs. That same year, she published 'Regional school-university partnerships: searching for the sweet spot-an inquiry into the impact of a pedagogy of care' with M. A. Foran as a chapter in Creating, Sustaining, and Enhancing Purposeful School-University Partnerships: Building Connections Across Diverse Educational Systems, edited by C. A. Green and M. J. Eady (Springer, pages 397-412). Previously, Jones held positions at the University of South Australia, including Lecturer and Regional Education Coordinator at the Whyalla Campus in Education Futures, where she supported initiatives for remote and indigenous students. Her efforts were acknowledged in the 2024 Unstoppable Awards in the Teaching and Learning Stream by UniSA Education Futures.
