About Shailendra

Dr. Shailendra Kumar serves as Professor and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology (MIET), Meerut, since May 2022. He concurrently heads the Skill Development & Vocational Courses at MIET. His career trajectory includes serving as Training Placement Officer and Associate Professor at BBS College of Engineering, Prayagraj (June 2021–May 2022), Guest Faculty at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram (December 2020–June 2021), and Assistant Professor at MIET Meerut (July 2015–November 2020). Earlier positions encompass Assistant Professor at Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad (2014–2015), In charge of Faculty of Engineering and Registrar at Shri Ram Group of Colleges, Muzaffarnagar (2010–2012), and lecturing roles at Graphic Era Institute of Technology, Dehradun (2007), and PDM College of Engineering, Bahadurgarh (2003–2007). He started his professional journey as an Engineering Trainee at Balakrishna Tyres, Bhiwadi (2003).

Dr. Kumar earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 2021, M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Hamirpur in 2014, and B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Malaviya Regional Engineering College (now MNIT), Jaipur in 2003. His research focuses on Industry 4.0, manufacturing intelligence, flexible manufacturing systems (FMS), multi-criteria decision making (MCDM), production management, mechatronics, and non-conventional machining. With 35 publications, including 22 in international journals and 8 in international conferences, notable works include "An ISM and AHP based framework for Healthcare 4.0" (Journal of Industrial Integration and Management, 2023), "Industry 4.0 and Its Suitability in Post COVID-19" (Journal of Industrial Integration and Management, 2022), "Development of an Industry 4.0 Transformability Index for Manufacturing Systems" (Industrial Robot, 2022), "Narrowing the barriers to Industry 4.0 practices through PCA-Fuzzy AHP-K means" (Journal of Advances in Management Research, 2020), and "Analyzing the Barriers to Industry 4.0 Through Best-Worst Method" (International Journal of Performability Engineering, 2020). He has two published patents and has supervised M.Tech. theses.
