Sathish C G is a faculty member in the BSc in Chemistry programme at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru campus. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Münster, Germany, where his research focused on photofunctional Pt(II) complexes and their nanohybrids. He earned a master’s degree in Chemistry from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, and a bachelor’s degree with a triple major in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics from Bangalore University, Bengaluru. His areas of interest and expertise include coordination chemistry, photophysics, supramolecular chemistry, undergraduate chemistry education, and laboratory pedagogy. Sathish C G is passionate about teaching chemistry at the undergraduate level, emphasizing the integration of theory and experimentation.
Prior to joining Azim Premji University, Sathish C G served as a Visiting Fellow at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. There, he developed and implemented experimental modules for undergraduate laboratory education and conducted professional development workshops for chemistry teachers. His research specializations encompass photofunctional coordination compounds and nanoclay-based materials, alongside a focus on chemistry education, particularly laboratory pedagogy. Sathish C G has published several peer-reviewed articles in prominent journals. Key publications include 'Compensation of hybridization defects in phosphorescent complexes with pnictogen-based ligands – A structural, photophysical and theoretical case study with predictive character' in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (2020), 'Intermolecular interactions and self-assembly in Pt(II) complex–nanoclay hybrids as luminescent reporters for spectrally resolved PLIM' in The Journal of Physical Chemistry C (2021), 'Enhanced phosphorescence of Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes adsorbed onto Laponite for optical sensing of triplet molecular dioxygen in water' in Zeitschrift für Naturforschung B (2021), 'Comparative photophysical study of Pt(II) complex–nanoclay hybrid materials as dry powders and hydrogels' in Zeitschrift für Naturforschung B (2020), and 'Exploring spectrochemical series experimentally through collaborative learning approach' in Resonance (2024).
