About Sasha K.

Sasha K. Shillcutt, MD, MS, FASE, serves as the Dr. Gail Walling Yanney Professor of Anesthesiology and Vice Chair of Strategy in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She practices as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Nebraska Medicine. Her academic background includes an MD from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine in 2003, followed by an internal medicine internship in 2004, an anesthesiology residency completed in 2007, and a fellowship in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine in 2008. She also completed an executive fellowship in perioperative echocardiography at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT, and earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2016, with a thesis titled "Changes to Echocardiography-Derived Left Ventricular Filling Pressures and Cardiac Output in Response to Fluid Boluses in Elderly Patients with Left Ventricular Diastolic Dysfunction Undergoing Vascular Surgery."

Dr. Shillcutt's research specializations include cardiothoracic anesthesia, perioperative echocardiography, clinical research, and translational research. She holds board certifications from the American Board of Anesthesiology, including subspecialty certification in adult cardiac anesthesiology, as well as certifications from the National Board of Echocardiography in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography and examination of special competence in adult echocardiography. As a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE), she has contributed significantly to her field.
