Dr. Sandeep Naik is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Otago's Wellington campus, within the Faculty of Medicine, Health Sciences Division. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Genetics and his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Otago. Naik is qualified with a Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology (PGDipObsMedGyn) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). He is a candidate for the Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (CREI).
Naik completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the Auckland/Wellington training scheme and undertook a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He works as a consultant specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hutt Hospital and has been with Fertility Associates Wellington since 2017, serving as Clinical Director since 2022. As a clinical lecturer at the University of Otago Wellington Medical School, he contributes to undergraduate teaching programmes and has supervised fourth-year medical student projects. His research output includes co-authoring the article 'Systematic review of effective cervical cancer treatments in small island developing states: a narrative synthesis,' published in the Pacific Journal of Reproductive Health in 2019 with Alec Ekeroma and Peter Sykes. Naik's academic and clinical roles support advancements in women's health, reproductive medicine, and medical education in New Zealand.
