Dr Sa’adiah Munir is a lecturer in the Malaysia School of Business at Monash University. She earned her Doctor of Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham, and Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Malaya. Her principal research interests encompass corporate governance, audit quality, the halal industry, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. She has contributed to scholarly discourse through publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, including "Halal food export and Malaysia’s potential: the applicability of the gravity theory of trade" (Journal of Islamic Marketing, 2022), "Are Halal Hotels Green? An Exploratory Study from Malaysia" (Contemporary Business Research in the Islamic World, Springer, 2024), "Tackling the human element in cybersecurity management: a tale of a phishing attack on a Malaysian fashion company" (Journal of Information Technology Teaching Cases, 2025), and "Family ownership, related-party transactions and earnings quality" (Asian Academy of Management Journal of Accounting and Finance, 2013). Her work has been presented at international and national conferences.
Munir has led and collaborated on research projects such as "Building and Validating a Halal Trade Model: Uncovering the Economic Potential of Malaysian Halal Market" (2016–2019) and "The Dynamics of Ownership Structure and Board Diversity in Enhancing Innovation Intensity in Malaysian Firms" (2013–2014). She participates in postgraduate supervisory committees and advocates an interactive teaching approach in accounting subjects at Monash University Malaysia, emphasizing engagement, effectiveness, and empathy. Her excellence in teaching and research has earned her several accolades, including the Best Paper Award (2019), 2nd Best Paper Award (2023), PVC's Commendation for Excellence in Education (2021), Blue Letter Award (2021), and Commendation Letter for Early Semester Student Feedback Survey (2025). Additionally, she holds roles such as Academic Liaison Officer between Monash University Malaysia and MICPA-CA ANZ, Co-opted Member of the MICPA Education & Training Committee, and member of the MICPA Accreditation Working Group Panel.
