Rate My Professor Stephen Chavura

Dr Stephen Chavura is Senior Lecturer in History at Campion College Australia. He holds a BA Hons from Western Sydney University and a PhD from the University of New England. Prior to his appointment at Campion College, Dr Chavura taught the philosophy of social science and political theory at several Australian universities. He teaches European and Australian history.

Dr Chavura is the author of Tudor Protestant Political Thought 1547-1603, published by Brill in 2011. He is co-author of Reason, Religion, and the Australian Polity: A Secular State?, published by Routledge in 2019, and The Forgotten Menzies: The World Picture of Australia’s Longest-Serving Prime Minister, published by Melbourne University Press in 2021. He has published articles in journals including History of European Ideas, Journal of Religious History, and Australian Journal of Political Science. His research interests include the history of political thought, church and state relations, modern political philosophy, and freedom of speech. Dr Chavura has also contributed to The Australian newspaper.
