Rasiah's research specializations encompass simulated learning environments and assessment, quality use of medicines, health services provision to remote communities, Aboriginal health, primary health care, and the evaluation of teaching and learning programs. Notable publications include "What do Australian university staff perceive are the features of high-quality rural health student placements? A sequential explanatory study" (2025, BMJ Open), "Supporting Rurally Dwelling Adults With Disabilities: The Experiences of Staff From Two Organisations in Western Australia During the COVID-19 Pandemic" (2025, Australian Journal of Rural Health), "Rural nursing and allied health placements during the latter stage of the COVID-19 public health emergency: A national study" (2025, Australian Journal of Rural Health), and "Experience of and recommendations for creating new rural and remote psychology placements" (2025, Australian Psychologist). With 34 research outputs, his work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals such as Good Health and Well-being. Throughout his career, he has held significant leadership roles, including membership on the TEQSA Register of Experts for Pharmacy, Academic Quality Assurance, and Curriculum Development and Design; academic representative on the Accreditation Committee of the Australian Pharmacy Council (2013-2016); member of the Health Workforce Australia Program Advisory Group for Simulation; and Deputy President of the Academic Senate (Teaching and Learning) at the University of Newcastle (2010-2012). Earlier appointments include Pharmacist Academic at the Mt Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health and Senior Lecturer in the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program at James Cook University.
