Rate My Professor Reena Torabi

Reena Torabi is an Associate Lecturer and Sessional Academic in the School of Health and Clinical Sciences at the University of Western Australia. She earned her Bachelor of Biomedical Science with majors in Physiology and Pharmacology from UWA in 2007, followed by a Master of Pharmacy from Murdoch University in 2010. Additionally, she holds Diplomas in Business Administration (2019) and Leadership and Management (2021). During her undergraduate years, Torabi excelled academically, receiving the UWA Graduates Association Prize and Len Freedman Prize in Human Biology (2004), Physiology Prize (Level 2, 2005), and Reynoldson Prize in Pharmacology (2009). In January 2025, she attained Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and Associate Fellow status through UWA.

Torabi commenced her teaching career at UWA in 2012, instructing first-year units in chemistry (CHEM1003) and human biology (ANHB1101, ANHB1102). From 2019, she has contributed to the Master of Pharmacy program as a tutor and examiner for courses including PHCY5601 Introduction to Pharmacy Practice, PHCY5602 Integrated Pharmacology Therapeutics and Pharmacy Practice, PHCY5606 Foundations of Primary Care, and PHCY5612 Introduction to Pharmacy Practice. As a registered pharmacist, she has diverse experience in community pharmacy, consultancy, drug information services, and academia, spanning local, rural, regional, national, and international contexts. Her internship was at Optimal Pharmacy Plus in Hamilton Hill, followed by locum work in rural Western Australia and eastern states. Torabi volunteered in Iganga District Hospital, Uganda, and Johannes District Hospital, Kupang West Timor, aiding healthcare development. She completed the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia's Ignite Pharmacist Leadership program in 2013 and presented at the Pharmacy Australia Congress. Currently, she serves on the Academic Advisory Committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (2023–2026), as a Subject Matter Expert for the Australian Pharmacy Council (since 2021), and as an Examiner for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (since 2017). Previously, she participated in admissions interviews for UWA's Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy programs.
