About Raymond

Raymond Trau is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management at Macquarie University. He holds a PhD in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour from Monash University, awarded in 2008. His research focuses on diversity and inclusion, examining the psychological and contextual influences on the workplace experiences of women, minorities, and stigmatised groups, and how these shape wellbeing, work attitudes, career development, and job performance. Trau's scholarship has been published in prominent journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Resource Management, and British Journal of Management. Notable publications include 'Worker outcomes of LGBT-supportive policies: a cross-level model' (Pichler, Ruggs, and Trau, 2017), 'Task interdependence and the discrimination of gay men and lesbians in the workplace' (Lim, Trau, and Foo, 2018), and 'Mapping sexual orientation research in management: A review and research agenda' (Byington, Tamm, and Trau, 2021). His work has received coverage in international media including the Financial Times, Bloomberg, Globe and Mail, ABC TV, ABC News, SBS News, and Australian newspapers such as the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

Trau actively contributes to the field through leadership roles and collaborations. He serves on the advisory board of Pride in Diversity, as an expert panellist for Diversity Council Australia projects, and on its Research Committee. Previously at RMIT University, he was involved in the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Diverse Genders, Sexes and Sexualities Committee. He holds editorial board positions at the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: An International Journal, and reviews for leading outlets like Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, and Journal of Organizational Behavior. In the Academy of Management, he contributed to the All-Academy Theme Committee for the 2019 Inclusion theme and served a three-year term (2010-2013) on the executive committee of the Gender and Diversity in Organizations division. Trau has undertaken visiting fellowships at Mansfield College and Jesus College, University of Oxford. His industry partnerships include Diversity Council Australia, Deloitte, QBE, Victorian Government, Queensland Health, and BHP Billiton.
