About Rashmi

Rashmi Watson is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the UWA Medical School's MD Education Unit at the University of Western Australia, where she serves as Assessment Lead, guiding assessment practices across the Doctor of Medicine program. With over 20 years of experience in educational roles from K-12 to higher education, her career includes positions as Academic Developer at UWA's Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (2011-2016) and Centre for Education Futures (2016-2017), Course Coordinator and Academic Professional Development Coordinator for the Graduate Certificate in University Teaching at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle (2008-2011), and lecturer and course coordinator roles at institutions such as the University of Notre Dame Australia, West Coast College of TAFE, and Edith Cowan University. She has also headed the Research Education and Training Program, developing online modules for health professionals, and provides consultancy in leadership development and fostering cultures of continuous learning.

Dr. Watson's academic interests center on higher education pedagogy, curriculum and learning practices, assessment, leadership skills development, and staff capacity building. Her research addresses challenges in higher education, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, with publications exploring female academics' experiences, career progression, and online preparedness through comparative Australian-African perspectives. Nair), the book chapter "Female Academics' Career Progression and Motivation during COVID-19: An African Perspective" (2024, in Women and COVID-19), "Across continents: A comparison of African and Australian academics’ online preparedness" (2022, Perspectives in Education), and "Comparative reflections of Australian and African female academics on working from home during COVID-19" (2022, Frontiers in Psychology). She holds awards such as the ACCLAiM Research Travel Award (2024), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2022), Vice Chancellor's Award for Postgraduate Teaching (2011), and Best Doctor of Education (2012).
