Dr. Randy Bachmeier is an Associate Professor in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Montana State University-Northern, contributing to the Education faculty. He graduated from MSU-Northern with a Bachelor of Arts in Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies, History and English in 1993, a second Bachelor of Arts in Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies, Business (Accounting and Finance) in 2001, and a Master of Science in Education, Learning and Development in 2004. In 2009, he earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology from Regent University, where he received the Outstanding Ed.D. Student of the Year award, the highest honor for graduate students in the College of Education. Prior to his doctoral studies, Bachmeier worked as a reporter for the Havre Daily News, including writing an article on the final graduation of Northern Montana College in 1994.
Bachmeier has dedicated over 22 years to MSU-Northern, holding positions such as Project Coordinator for the Community Technology Education Center, Director of The Learning Center and Online Learning, and Dean for Extended University. He currently serves as faculty for the Community Psychology Bachelor of Arts program and the Community Leadership minor, where he mentors students, providing support and challenging them to develop skills in strategic program planning, understanding, designing, and evaluating community-based systems. In 2016, as Dean, he and the Instructional Technology Department received Pure Gold recognition from the Montana State University system for their service, dedication, technical support, and weekly Tech Snacks seminars aiding online teaching. Bachmeier contributed a video to the Faculty Learning Community on creating a teaching reflection routine. His key publication is the book Light & Love: A Reflective Inquiry Based Approach to Understanding Communities, Leadership, and Social Change, completed recently and available at the MSU-Northern bookstore, offering a step-by-step reflective framework for impactful action plans.
