About Rajabi

Dr. Mehdi Rajabi Asadabadi is a Lecturer in the Department of Management and Organisations at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. He obtained his PhD in 2019 from the University of New South Wales School of Business, focusing his thesis on techniques to address ambiguity of requirements in large-scale projects. Prior to joining UWA, he worked as a Research Fellow in Project Management at the Australian National University for several years and as a Lecturer at the University of Sydney. He also earned a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering as the top student from the University of San Jose-Recoletos in the Philippines.

Rajabi Asadabadi's academic interests center on project management, decision support systems, and business intelligence. During his PhD studies, he contributed to project scoping in large-scale projects and introduced the stratified decision making approach to the literature in 2018. His research has since progressed to applying stratified methods for improving the quality of project estimates in time, cost, and benefits, while accounting for risk and uncertainty. This work forms part of a quality assurance framework for large-scale projects to mitigate optimism bias and strategic misrepresentation, ensuring more reliable investment decisions with significant resource implications. His publications have garnered over 1,800 citations according to Google Scholar. Notable works include "The stratified multi-criteria decision-making method" (European Journal of Operational Research, 2017), "Supplier selection to support environmental sustainability: the stratified BWM TOPSIS method" (2022), "Integrating risk into estimations of project activities' time and cost" (European Journal of Operational Research, 2021), "Project Investment Decisions: Comparison of Nonmonetary Benefits" (Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, 2024), "Unrealistic Project Goals: Detection and Modification" (Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, 2024), "Goal-oriented prioritization of project outputs: a stratified approach" (Production Planning and Control, 2024), and "A STRATIFIED MARKOVIAN MULTI-PREFERENCE DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM TO ASSESS SUPPLY CHAIN BLOCKCHAIN PLATFORMS" (IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, 2025). He served as guest editor for Project Leadership and Society in 2022.
