About Quan Z.
Quan Z. Sheng, professionally known as Michael Sheng, serves as a Distinguished Professor and Head of School of Computing at Macquarie University in the Computer Science discipline. He earned his PhD in computer science from the University of New South Wales and completed a postdoctoral position as a research scientist at CSIRO ICT Centre. Earlier in his career, Sheng worked for six years as a senior software engineer in industry and served as a visiting research fellow at the University of New South Wales from 1999 to 2001. Prior to joining Macquarie, he spent ten years at the School of Computer Science, University of Adelaide, where he held senior leadership positions including Interim Head of School and Deputy Head of School.
Sheng's research specializations include Web of Things, Internet of Things, Big Data Analytics, Web Science, Service-oriented Computing, Pervasive Computing, and Sensor Networks. He is ranked by Microsoft Academic as one of the Most Impactful Authors in Services Computing, placing in the Top 5 worldwide. His accolades include the AMiner Most Influential Scholar Award on IoT in 2019, ARC Future Fellowship in 2014, Chris Wallace Award for Outstanding Research Contribution in 2012, and Microsoft Research Fellowship in 2003. Sheng has authored or edited several influential books, such as 'Managing the Web of Things: Linking the Real World to the Web' (Morgan Kaufmann, 2017), 'Trust Management in Cloud Services' (Springer, 2014), 'Enabling Context-Aware Web Services: Methods, Architectures, and Technologies' (CRC Press, 2010), and 'Web Services Foundations' (Springer, 2013).
