Puspavathy Rassiah serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance within the Malaysia School of Business at Monash University Malaysia. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting from Monash University in 2017 and a Master’s in Business Administration from Edith Cowan University. Rassiah is also a qualified professional accountant, holding memberships as an Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). In addition to her lecturing role, she acts as the Director of Community Engagement & Societal Impact for the School of Business at Monash University Malaysia. Her teaching responsibilities include units such as ACW1000 Principles of Accounting and Finance, AFW2020 Cost Information for Decision Making, ACC2200 Introduction to Management Accounting, and ACW3431 Management Accounting.
Her research focuses on areas including management accounting, corporate governance, accounting education, financial accounting, cost accounting, performance management, and environmental management. Rassiah has been involved as a Chief Investigator in multiple research projects, such as "Building a Greener Future: Advancing Green and Affordable Housing in Malaysia" (2025-2026), "Sustainability Impact: Case Studies of UNGCMYB Member Companies" (2025-2026), "Anti-corruption: TRUST Principles for Supply Chain Excellence" (2024), and "Malaysia CFO Collective Action Program" (2023-2024). Key publications include "Smart accountability: leveraging AI to align ESG disclosure with practice" (Luo et al., International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, 2026), "Tackling the human element in cybersecurity management: a tale of a phishing attack on a Malaysian fashion company" (Siew et al., Journal of Information Technology Teaching Cases, 2025), "Sustainable environmental management practices: evidence from hotels in Malaysia" (Rassiah et al., Global Sustainability, 2024), "Leadership in Action: Sustainable Finance Case Studies" (Nasir et al., 2024), and "Anti-Corruption: Implementing TRUST principles for business integrity competence" (Avvari et al., 2024). She has presented research findings at events like the UNGCMYB's Business Integrity Knowledge Session. Among her accolades are the School of Business Excellence Award 2024 for Education Excellence, the i5 Grant Competition for Innovative Pedagogy award from PRME Chapter ASEAN+, and a grant from the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) Grant Scheme 2025. Rassiah accepts PhD supervision and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals in areas such as clean water, affordable energy, industry innovation, responsible consumption, and climate action.
