Dr. Priyanka Paliwal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, a position she has held since 2023 after serving as Assistant Professor in the same department from 2005 to 2023. She obtained her B.Tech degree from Nagpur University in 1998, M.Tech from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal in 2005, and Ph.D. from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal in 2013. Her research specializations encompass power systems and optimization techniques, with focused interests in smart grids, microgrids, distributed energy resources, demand response, and autonomous power systems.

Dr. Paliwal has produced 122 scholarly publications, including 53 journal articles, 2 book chapters, 60 conference proceedings, 3 incollections, 2 reviews, and 1 retracted publication, garnering 1159 citations and an h-index of 16 according to Google Scholar. Key publications feature the Best Paper Award-winning works: “Control of Solar-battery storage based Micro-grid” at the IEEE IEMRE-2021 conference and “Techno-Socio-Economic Sizing of Solar–Diesel Generator-Based Autonomous Power System Using Butterfly-PSO” at the Springer AREEV-2021 conference. She has guided five doctoral theses, covering topics such as planning and control of distributed energy resources in smart grid networks, smart controller-based demand response frameworks for device scheduling, microgrid planning in multi-criteria decision-making frameworks, control and management of hybrid microgrids, and multi-agent particle swarm optimization-based service restoration in electric distribution systems. Her accolades include the Teaching Faculty Award from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology in 2010, two Best Paper Awards in 2021, the SISTec Tejomay Award 2023 for felicitation of women achievers in technical education, and recognition for contributions in the field of STEM from UN Women and the Government of Madhya Pradesh under the WeSTEM Programme in 2024. Dr. Paliwal is a Senior Member of IEEE since 2021, Member of IEEE PES since 2022, and Life Member of ISTE since 2005.
