Rate My Professor Pradeep Kumar Gupta

Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Gupta serves as Professor and Head of the Core Computing Group in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India. He holds a Post-Doctorate in Computer Engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa (2015), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) from Jaypee University of Information Technology (2013). His earlier qualifications include an M.E. and B.E. in Informatics and Mathematics from Vladimir State University, Russia (2001 and 1999). With over 23 years of experience, Dr. Gupta joined JUIT in 2008 as Sr. Lecturer, advancing through roles including Assistant Professor (Sr. Grade), Associate Professor, Professor & Academic Coordinator, and currently Professor. He served as Professor and Head (Data Science) at Mohan Babu University, Tirupati (June 2024–May 2025), and as Visiting Researcher at Federal University of Itajuba, Brazil (since 2017). His research focuses on Internet-of-Things, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Vehicular Networks, and Fog Computing. He has supervised seven Ph.D. scholars—on topics such as privacy in vehicular networks, machine learning for protein predictions, and fault tolerance in fog computing—and thirteen M.Tech. students.

Dr. Gupta has edited over 20 conference proceedings and books, including multiple volumes of 'Advances in Computing and Data Sciences' (Springer, 2018–2023), 'Trust & Fault in Multi Layered Cloud Computing Architecture' (Springer, 2020), and proceedings of IEEE PDGC and ICIIP conferences. Key publications feature 'Application of deep learning for fast detection of COVID-19 in X-Rays using nCOVnet' (Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, 2020; 778 citations) and 'Performance analysis of various machine learning-based approaches for detection and classification of lung cancer in humans' (Neural Computing and Applications, 2019; 269 citations), contributing to an h-index of 23 and over 105 SCOPUS-indexed papers. He has secured grants exceeding 40 Lakhs from DST India and HIMCOSTE, Shimla. Awards include the NRF-KIC South Africa-2015 grant, 2024 Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan Distinguished Researcher and Professor Award, and Computer Society of India award for maximum publications (2015-16). Dr. Gupta is Associate Editor for IEEE Access and Frontiers in High Performance Computing, CSI Himachal Pradesh State Student Coordinator, IEEE Delhi Section Executive Council member, and holds memberships in CSI, ISCA, IEEE, ACM, IACSIT, and ISTE.
