Rate My Professor Peter Sinclair

Sinclair's research focuses on the biomechanics of exercise, sports injury prevention, and performance analysis, with applications to cricket fast bowling, equestrian falls, soccer, squash, diving, horse racing, and swimming. He utilizes 3D motion capture, force platforms, inertial measurement units, and video analysis. He has presented 26 papers at International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS) conferences since 2000, served on the ISBS board of directors since 2016, and as Secretary General since 2019. Previously, he was Foundation Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Biomechanics from 1996 to 1998 and served on the Accreditation and Curriculum Committee of Exercise Science Australia. In 2011, he was a visiting research fellow at the Robotique Biomécanique Sport Santé laboratory at the University of Poitiers, France. Key publications include 'The evidence for improving balance by strengthening the toe flexor muscles: a systematic review' (2020), 'The effectiveness of bench press training with or without throws on strength and shot put distance of competitive university athletes' (2018), 'Shock attenuation in shoes compared to barefoot: a systematic review' (2012), and 'Video analysis of jockey fall characteristics in horse racing' (2022). His contributions have advanced understanding in sports biomechanics and injury prevention.
