Peter Bellini serves as Professor of Church Renewal and Evangelization in the Heisel Chair at United Theological Seminary, where he also directs Non-Degree Programs, the Fire Academy, and Specialized Certificates. His academic credentials include a BA from The Ohio State University in 1987, graduate studies at the same institution in 1987-1988 and 1991, an MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2000, a PhD from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2008, and a Neuroscience Certificate from Harvard University in 2020. An ordained elder in the Allegheny West Conference of the Global Methodist Church, Dr. Bellini brings over 37 years of ministry experience, encompassing new church starts, church turnarounds, mergers, local church renewal, discipleship and leadership training, inner city and global missions, and marketplace ministries. He has served and taught extensively in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, functioning as a leader in all facets of ministry, a revivalist in conferences and revivals, and a minister in prophetic intercession, deliverance, and healing. Additionally, he owns and coaches Big Bang Southside Boxing Club, an outreach for at-risk youth, teens, and young adults.
An interdisciplinary theologian, Dr. Bellini researches, writes, and teaches at the nexus of theology, philosophy, and science, emphasizing the person and work of the Holy Spirit, power evangelism through deliverance and healing, and discipleship. His teaching portfolio covers Church Renewal, Evangelization, Global Charismatic Studies, Interreligious and Intercultural Encounter, Philosophy, and Pastoral Care and Counseling. Research interests span Trinitarian theology, applied pneumatology in holiness, prayer, healing, mental health, cognitive neuroscience, philosophy of mind, deliverance, and discipleship, alongside renewal movements such as early Methodism, the Holiness movement, Pentecostal-Charismatic traditions, and Global South renewal. Expertise areas include evangelism, church renewal, global charismatic studies, intercultural and interreligious encounter, missiology, and urban studies.
