Dr. Nuraddeen Nuhu is a Lecturer in Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University’s Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance, Macquarie Business School. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a PhD in Accounting and Corporate Governance from the same institution. His PhD thesis, “The use and effectiveness of management control systems in the Australian public sector,” underscores his expertise in management accounting. Prior to academia, Nuhu worked in financial and managerial accounting roles, preparing and analyzing financial statements for internal and external users, and designing organizational systems such as budgeting, performance measurement, and costing.
Nuhu’s research specializes in management control systems, management accounting practices, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. He has produced 18 research outputs published in top-tier journals including Business Strategy and the Environment (2026: “Stock exchange ESG disclosure guidance and corporate carbon mitigation: international evidence,” with Jiamian Yan and Le Luo), Meditari Accountancy Research (2025: “The impact of strategic management accounting (SMA) facets on organisational performance: the mediating role of the use of SMA practices,” with Kevin Michael Baird and Sophia Su), Journal of Management Control (2024: “The effect of Porter’s competitive forces on competitive advantage and organisational performance and the moderating role of management accounting practices,” with Kevin Baird and Lu Jiao), and Accounting & Finance (2024: “The influence of organisational learning capability on the organisational use of SMA practices: The mediating role of employee creativity and empowerment,” with Kevin Baird and Sophia Su). His scholarship has been cited more than 617 times per Google Scholar, reflecting significant impact in the field. Nuhu earned second place in the 2020 Macquarie Business School Early Career Research Showcase Competition and served as primary chief investigator on projects examining sustainability control systems’ role in triple bottom line performance (2020-2022) and environmental management accounting practices (2018-2019).
