Dr. Nicole Freeman serves as Professor of Communication Studies in the Department of Communication and Digital Media Production within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Central Missouri. She earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri, with a dissertation titled 'Leveraging university mission statements: A case study analyzing competitive advantage.' Freeman also holds an M.A. in Communication from the University of Central Missouri. Her academic background bridges educational leadership and communication, informing her teaching and service contributions at UCM. She is a key contact for graduate assistantships in the Master of Arts in Communication program and co-advises the Secondary Education BSE program with a Speech Communication and Theatre option, guiding students to develop their voices in public speaking and performance.
Freeman has a distinguished career in forensics and debate education. Previously serving as Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Forensics, she supports the UCM Talking Mules speech and debate team, contributing to student successes including Fulbright semi-finalists in communication. In 2020, the National Forensics Association honored her with an exemplary service award when she was an associate professor.
